Career/Vocational Exploration

There are many, MANY online options available to start exploring potential career choices. One tool that all students at NBHS has is Naviance. Once you are on the log in page, just click on "Sign in with Clever" and follow the prompts.

When you are logged into your Naviance account, click on Self-Discovery and then Self-Discovery Home to access a variety of helpful inventories and assessments that can help you start to narrow down careers that you may be interested in learning more about:

  • AchieveWorks Intelligences will help you to uncover your different intelligences and how to use them by identifying the ways you deal with information, solve problems, and create things.
  • AchieveWorks Learning and Productivity will help you discover your sensory, environmental and mindset preferences how you learn best to that you can be your most productive self.
  • Achieveworks Personality will ask you to respond to a variety of different scenarios and will identify your personality type and provide tips, based on that information, to help you achieve greater success.
  • Achieveworks Skills helps you identify and develop your skills and connects your skills to careers that might interest you. Use this assessment to reveal your current skill profile and provide recommendations for you to develop your skills.
  • The Strengths Explorer will help uncover your talents and reveal your potential strengths. Use this tool to help identify not only what you like to do, but what you are good at, not academically, but skills like communicating with others, working in a group or time-management.

Now that you have identified some areas that you are interested in and what some of your greatest strengths are, the Career Cluster Finder and Career Interest Profiler will help you find specific careers that would be "good fits" with your skills and personality.

Remember, your interests and skills may change over time, so it's not a bad idea to complete these assessments a few times throughout high school. You can ask your School Counselor to reset any assessments or inventories in Naviance anytime if you want to retake one or more of them.\ The Library Media Center is always a good source for more information about various careers, in addition to the School Counseling Office.
