Counseling Services

Individual Counseling Students are welcome to come in to meet with their school counselor anytime they would like. They can come in to see if their counselor is available and, if not, can sign up and their counselor will call them down. Students seek out their counselor for a wide variety of reasons ranging from having difficulty with another student, teacher or family member to seeking advice about classes to take, how to improve grades, or post-high school planning.

Group Counseling Occasionally, the Guidance Department offers time-limited, topic-specific groups when the need arises. Students may be invited to join a group when appropriate, and it is the student's decision as to whether they want to participate. Topics of groups that have been run in the past include focusing on developing appropriate social skills and dealing effectively with stress.

Course Counseling Every year, students will be asked to participate in the scheduling process as they choose their classes for the following year. Counselors meet with students to discuss their choices and teacher recommendations as they select both required courses and electives.

Post-High School Counseling During both the Junior and Senior years, counselors will schedule individual conferences with students and their parents to come in and discuss post-high school options. Students are encouraged to come in anytime (they don't have to wait until their Junior year!) if they have questions about careers or colleges.
